Why do I get disconnected when I check my mail?

If you are using Outlook Express, click tools at the top and options. Click the tab called "Connections". Remove the checkmark from "Disconnect after sending and receiving", and you should be able to check mail without disconnecting.

Why does it take so long to download my mail?

It is possible you have a large attachment trying to download. You can either wait for it to finish or you can log into web mail here and view and delete the email that is in the way. The other possibility is you have another program that is working with your email program such as a spam filter or your anti virus program is set to scan incoming and outgoing email. You can turn these settings off by looking in your Anti Virus program settings or Spam program settings.

Why do I get a "Timeout when trying to connect" error in Outlook Express?

Norton Anti Virus recently released a 'buggy' update to their software that may interfere with your email program. If you are running Norton Anti-virus, run Norton "Live Update" and try checking your email again. If this does not fix the problem, open Norton Anti-virus and click "Options" at the top and "Email" on the left. Take the checkmark out of "Scan incoming and outgoing mail". Re-connect and try your email again.
